TOURS:
Explore the black water, moss-bearded cypress swamps and rich history of the Waccamaw River--arguably the most important river in South Carolina history. We'll leave from, and return to, Wacca Wache marina, taking "the side creek less paddled."
MOST POPULAR TOUR! We'll ride the tide up the river, take a picturesque side creek, and get out on a dock for a short loop hike around the ecologically-diverse and historically-rich Sandy Island. We'll check out longleaf pine forests, red-cockaded woodpecker nests, carnivorous plants, Carolina bays, and much more.
a.k.a. "The No-Yak Kayak." Offered at high tides near dawn-break. Start the day right with one hour of silent, reflective, observant sunrise paddling. When we turn around to make our way back to the take-out, we can chat for the next hour about what we saw. I'll even bring coffee!
On this trip, we will explore the natural and human histories of the Murrells Inlet salt marsh as we loop our way along Parsonage Creek and out past Drunken Jack Island, arriving at the nesting tern sanctuary of Huntington Beach State Park. We'll make our way through marshy mazes and spartina corridors, alongside oyster banks, and under skies of birds.
Looking for a slightly more adventurous and private paddling experience? Let me take you somewhere special. Maybe Black Mingo Creek, or the Upper Waccamaw, or Pawleys Island, or the Little Peedee. We can chat on the phone about what you'd like to get out of this tour, and we will make it happen!
